Controversial Welsh poet, playwright and short-story writer who pursued a career as a news reporter. His flair for amatuer dramatics led him to international acclaim, especially in the United States, where his readings and lecture tours became legendary.

Thomas' marriage to Caitlin Macnamara was volatile and possibly reflected his erratic and infamous lifestyle the effects of which led to his ultimate drug and acholol related death.

Dylan's works both in his poetry and prose utilized vivid words which elicited strong emotional responses. His later works including the 'Twenty-five Poems' (1936) and the 'Map of Love' are highly regarded. His rendetion of 'Under Milkwood' and 'A Child's Christmas in Wales' conveyed his ability to move people evocatively with his words.
